Chhatris of Orchha

Orchha, in the State of Madhya-Pradesh, is a timeless place which takes the visitor back in time. It was the time when the great rulers were burried in imposing chhatris (cenotaphs), beside the beautiful Betwa river.

I'm a Paris based freelance photographer. I have extensively travelled in India over the last ten years, a country to which a great part of my photography is dedicated today. My approach tends to explore all the nuances and the diversity of Indian society, in which traditions and modernity live side by side, forever juxtaposed, thus forming a series of striking contrasts. Humans and their realities are my main interests, and instead of hiding behind the lens, the camera becomes a means of communication with the subjects, often resulting in fascinating and memorable encounters.

Photoburst is a photo of the day contest focusing on Travel Photography.

Everyday (from the 1st until the 28th), among all images uploaded by our contributors, we publish a photo of the day (POTD).
Every week (on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th), among all POTDs of the preceding week, we select a photo of the week (POTW).
On the 30th we select the best POTW as photo of the month (POTM).

The author of the POTM receives:
a US$50 gift certificate to Kiva + (in even-numbered months only) an invitation to be Photoburst's guest editor in the following month!
