This image was taken in Inle Lake, Myanmar(formerly known as Burma) at a local monastery in December 2009. I have visited the monastery twice in the last two years and I have seen some of the boys on both visits. They remember me to say the least. I had brought them some photos this past December, of the year prior, and they really got a kick out of them. After being there for a couple of hours and talking with them, I asked them to jump as high as they could. They laughed so hard because at the time were not the least bit interested in embarrassing themselves. Finally after some coaxing and having fun I took the photo. As you can see, this being the first shot of many, only one boy decided to jump on the first try. The other two decided they would laugh because they weren't about to do it. After I showed them the image they all were laughing so hard. We took many subsequent photographs. It was definitely a priceless moment in my life. Thanks for viewing my images.

Young monks are boys before they are monks and I know we don't always see this side of them. on 2010-05-31, at 19:11:56
Photoburst is a photo of the day contest focusing on Travel Photography.
Everyday (from the 1st until the 28th), among all images uploaded by our contributors, we publish a photo of the day (POTD).
Every week (on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th), among all POTDs of the preceding week, we select a photo of the week (POTW).
On the 30th we select the best POTW as photo of the month (POTM).
From May 2015 onwards we will cease to award gift certificates to Kiva and guest editorship invitations to our POTM winners. However, occasionally we may accept/address guest editorship proposals, as we strongly believe they are a great way of further involving photographers with Photoburst. Interested? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
