MathewT Sergio, this is a poignant portrait... I'm sure your image will stick in my mind for a long time. Congratulations, excellent work. Best, Mathew. on 2010-06-23, at 05:03:30
Sergio Izquierdo Yes. I could not sleep that night after taking this photograph. The next day I collected clothes, food, and also toys for the children, and I gave it to these people. Then a lot of friends contributed with the cause, and I made 3 more trips to the volcano to give them food and clothes. The roof of the houses were destroyed bye the stones and rocks threw by the eruption of the volcano. On the last trip I saw that the aid from the government began to arrive. These people were hit not only by the eruption of the Pacaya's volcano, but also by the Agatha hurricane. on 2010-06-23, at 15:06:39
MathewT Thanks for your words, we now know more about what these people went through... although we cannot quite grasp the magnitude of it all, I'm sure :( on 2010-06-23, at 16:36:32

Photoburst is a photo of the day contest focusing on Travel Photography.
Everyday (from the 1st until the 28th), among all images uploaded by our contributors, we publish a photo of the day (POTD).
Every week (on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th), among all POTDs of the preceding week, we select a photo of the week (POTW).
On the 30th we select the best POTW as photo of the month (POTM).
From May 2015 onwards we will cease to award gift certificates to Kiva and guest editorship invitations to our POTM winners. However, occasionally we may accept/address guest editorship proposals, as we strongly believe they are a great way of further involving photographers with Photoburst. Interested? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All photographs contained on this website remain the property of their authors, as indicated over each photograph. Photographs may not be downloaded, reproduced, copied, projected or used in any way without express written permission of their authors.
