Towards the Night

I had been wanting to take this picture for more than a year, so when I finally was in the Bay Area I seized the opportunity. It wasn't easy finding the right position: in many places the trees were in the way and others were fenced off. But in the end I came up with this result.

Julian Powell

Born on the 20th of January 1991 in Princeton, New Jersey (USA), I grew up in Ticino from the age of six, when my family moved to Switzerland. I received my first camera for my eighth birthday from my grandmother, and developed an immediate passion for visual art. Thanks to numerous trips all over Europe and America, I had the opportunity from an early age to take pictures in very diverse and unique environments, approaching them as I grew older with the eye of an international and cosmopolitan citizen. For the past 4 years now, I have been hired regularly to photograph communions, baptisms and other events such as concerts. Since 2009 I have also begun doing photo shoots of models and portraits of families and other clients. In June 2010 I graduated from the Liceo 1 of Lugano (Swiss college preparatory high school). My first photo exhibition, which opened in September 2009 at the Salone Piazza Grande in Curio, was a great success! Most recently I have begun to provide my services to real estate companies such as Red Oak Realty.

Photoburst is a photo of the day contest focusing on Travel Photography.

Everyday (from the 1st until the 28th), among all images uploaded by our contributors, we publish a photo of the day (POTD).
Every week (on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th), among all POTDs of the preceding week, we select a photo of the week (POTW).
On the 30th we select the best POTW as photo of the month (POTM).

The author of the POTM receives:
a US$50 gift certificate to Kiva + (in even-numbered months only) an invitation to be Photoburst's guest editor in the following month!
